Oman to take on UAE for third place in GCC U23 football meet
On Monday Oman lost to Kuwait in the second semifinal match at the Bahrain National Stadium in a penalty shootout 4-5 after both the teams failed to break the 1-1 stalemate at the end of extra-time.
In the regulation time Oman rallied back to draw level after Kuwait had gone ahead in the seventh minute. Omar al Fazari equalised in the 42nd minute for Oman. Both teams failed to find a goal in the remaining period of the game.
In the shootout Mahmood Mubarak Mohammed al Rawahi and Basil al Rawahi missed the spot kicks for Oman.
Earlier in the first semifinal match UAE lost to Saudi Arabia 3-5 also in a tie-breaker. Both the teams were locked in a 1-1 draw at the end of extra-time.
