(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The UAE's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday summoned the Iraqi Ambassador to the country Muwafaq Mahadi after gunshots were fired at flydubai's Dubai-bound flight FZ 215 at Baghdad International Airport on Monday.

The ministry expressed in a statement its grave concern over the incident.
During the meeting, UAE's Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Mohammed Mer Al Raisi voiced his country's concern and demanded the launch of a comprehensive investigation, UAE news agency (WAM) reported.

Al Raisi also asked Iraq to take necessary measures to enforce international agreements on civil aviation safety and provide the required guarantees and protection, it said.

Meanwhile, flydubai, Emirates Airlines, Sharjah's Air Arabia and Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways suspended their flights on Tuesday to Baghdad, in line with a directive from the United Arab Emirates' civil aviation authority.

On Monday, bullets hit flydubai when it was landing at Baghdad airport, the company and officials said, adding it landed peacefully.
