Qatar Career Fair launches winter camp

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Career Fair (QCF), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), is running its first Winter Career Camp at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

Thirty male and female preparatory school students are participating in the one-week programme that ends tomorrow.

Designed to engage Qatari students, the camp is providing them with practical skills and tools to help them choose the academic path that suits their interests and capabilities.

Through the camp, QCF supports QF's mission to providing world-class education, work experience and career opportunities to help Qatar's drive towards a knowledge-based economy.

The camp also features stimulating career-oriented workshops to inspire a strong career culture and help students discover their skills and talents early on. This, in turn, will help the youngsters choose a future career path.

The camp also provides students with experience through which they are able to acquire multiple skills in and entertaining and interactive way. They are also visiting companies to gain first hand insight into their operations and work culture and help them think about specific careers after academic life.

Maryah Al Dafa, QF Acting Director of Communications delivered the opening speech at the camp and said today's generation had plenty of opportunities and tools to excel that previous generations did not have, helping them utilise available resources to achieve success for themselves and their country.

"Success comes before work in the dictionary, but the reality is different. Success can only be achieved by hard work and perseverance through all challenges," she said.

Abdulla Al Mansoori, Director, QCF, said: "Our programmes and initiatives aim to provide Qatari youth with career development skills and instil in them a strong career ethic. This will help them face challenges of the competitive Qatar labour market. What the students learn during the camp will be reflected positively on their academic lives and future careers. The aim of the event is to hone talents and develop personal skills.

"The students will be exposed to different work environments through site visits and will gain a clearer vision of their future career path."

Saad Al Kharji, Head of Operations, QCF, said, "We encourage the students at the camp to benefit from workshops and programmes." Every student that successfully completes the programme will receive a participation certificate.
