In 2013 nine tonnes of smokeless tobacco was sold Russia with the whole volume distributed via tobacco specialists. It generated sales of RUB82 million in 2013. It recorded 9% volume growth and 24% value growth in 2013. Only imported products were available. Swedish-style Snus (a moist snuff) was the only sub-category available in 2013.

Competitive Landscape

Smokeless tobacco is very small in Russia. It was dominated by GN Tobacco Sweden AB with its Oden’s brand which had 78% retail volume share in 2013. Second place was taken by Philip Morris International Inc and its Parliament brand which reached 5% volume share in 2013. It was also presented by Alois Pöschl Tabak products. The company’s main brands were Gletscherprise Santa Caterina Gawith Apricot and Ozona with different aromatic flavours.
