GCSE sports students get locked in over weekend at GES

(MENAFNEditorial) Gulf English School Primary (GES) GSCE students studying Physical Education attended a 'Lock-In' at the School. An internal, intensive study bootcamp, the Lock-In sees students spend two full days at school receiving many hours of theory classes, and practical sport. The students camp overnight in the school sports hall and enjoy a variety of recreational and exercise activities. The study camp was so popular that other students, not studying GCSE PE also attended.

The Lock-In provided students with nearly five hours of physical activity including fitness training, rounders, swimming, personal survival, basketball, volleyball, circuit training, badminton and football drills, as well as quizzes, group discussions, BBQ, videos and games such as PS FIFA Tournaments.

Rebecca Cruickshank, Faculty Coordinator for PE, said: "The idea behind a Lock-In is to provide an intensive bootcamp that covers not only GCSE studies, sports and teamwork but also recreational time for students to mingle and get to know each other better. This pays dividends in classes after the Lock-In as students focus and work together in a very constructive way."

Teachers gave up their free time to attend and hold the lock in and student Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Year 11, was master chef of the night serving up BBQ chicken, beef hotdogs and peri-peri steak. Hearty breakfasts followed on the second day, with pancakes, eggs, baked beans and toast served up to keep energy levels up for another day of intensive sports and study.
