Iran's inflation rate down to 15.8 percent


(MENAFN) According to the Statistical Center of Iran, the inflation rate dropped to 15.8 percent for the twelve-month period ended January 20, Tehran Times reported.

The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) had forecasted the inflation rate to stand at 16.3 percent. The inflation rate for the twelve-month period ended December 20 stood at 16.8 percent.

Meanwhile, the point-on-point inflation rate dropped to 14.4 percent in October from 14.9 percent in the prior month. In March, forecasts indicated of a below-15 percent inflation rate.

The government will implement anti-recession programs until a single-digit inflation rate is achieved, the Finance and Economic Affairs Iranian Minister said in a statement.
