Microsoft quarterly net income down 10 percent


(MENAFN) Microsoft Corp. announced logging a drop of its net income for the second quarter of the 2014 financial year, dropping 10 percent from a year earlier, QNA reported.

However, the US tech giant's revenue surged 8 percent from USD24.52 billion registered in the second quarter of the previous financial year, hitting USD26.47 billion this quarter.

Commercial revenue from cloud-based services, including subscription office software Office 365, storage platform Azure and sales software Dynamic CRM Online, grew 14 percent.

"Microsoft is continuing to transform, executing against our strategic priorities and extending our cloud leadership," Microsoft chief executive officer (CEO) said in a statement.
