Saudi- Wastewater treatment: Jawdat to set up JV with Organica
(MENAFN- Arab News) Riyadh-based Jawdat group working in the construction sector will enter greenhouse wastewater management with Organica Technologies of Hungary that builds eco-friendly wastewater treatment plants. In an interview with Arab News Abdulla Sheikh business development manager of Jawdat Co. said: "Our aim is to treat recycle and conserve wastewater in the Kingdom in a greenhouse environment. Therefore we decided to have a joint venture with Organica Technologies a trusted name that builds wastewater treatment plants that can be used in agriculture irrigation or municipal areas using patented technology acknowledged worldwide."Headquartered in Budapest Hungary Organica has branch offices in India Singapore and the US and "it will come to the Kingdom in a joint venture with us for the first time" said Sheikh who has entered his father Rashid Sheikh's construction business and wishes to expand its dimension. When asked what inspired him to shift from the traditional family business the young businessman who has returned after graduating from Imperial College London in environmental engineering said: "I wish to extend family business from construction to organic solutions for wastewater treatment as I studied environmental engineering."He said: 'Since I had my conscience clear I shared the idea with my father and he agreed. Now we have decided to go with organic water treatment plants that are eco-friendly and smaller than traditional wastewater treatment plants to be established in greenhouses."He shared that though there are projects going on different fronts like desalination technology and groundwater pumping which has limited options with water table being much deeper water problem is stark in the Kingdom and it is one of the reasons Jawdat decided to venture into this sector. He exuded confidence that the decision will prove successful. He added that as against a traditional wastewater treatment plant this new concept is a beautiful idea with a park look where people can visit and unlike its predecessor usually built on the outskirts of the city. The new eco-friendly plant can be setup in the middle of the city and given a beautiful look too and can be built in places like King Abdullah Park in Malaz district here.He underscored that with such ideas "we have gone through the Ministry of Water and Electricity studies and observed market trends and conducted our own viability studies to finally venture into the new business concept."He said: 'We also studied King Saud University and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) reports on related studies.'Jawdat is also involved in philanthropy and works on many fronts to help expatriate workers from India. When asked about motivation behind all this business expansion and social work Sheikh who was born and brought up in the Kingdom said: "We should learn from the best of our role models. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the solid role model and it is important that we try to enact his actions and think the way he did.""The prophet lived to make this world a better place and even at his final moments wished best for mankind rather than saying a few words to his near and dear ones" he said."One other example that comes to my mind is he would never waste water! Even when doing wudu (ablution) he would do it over a plant so that this wastewater ends up as a valuable resource for some other organism. My motivation to do everything is fundamentally based on the life of our prophet and the Islam religion he left us with. I pray that Allah blesses us and accepts whatever little good we try to do for the society and the environment."He also extended greetings to Indians living in the Kingdom on the occasion of their country's 66th Republic Day on behalf of Jawdat group.
