Egypt- 6 Talaat Harb detainees released


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Six protesters were released on Sunday after being arrested during a protest in Talaat Harb Square a day earlier.

Mokhtar Mounir, lawyer from the Association for Freedom and Thought Expression (AFTE) listed the names of the six detainees as Sayed Abul Ela, Hossam Nasr, Talaat Fahmy and Hassan Mohamed, Mostafa Mansour, and Mohamed Said. He mentioned they were released on warrant of their place of residency.

The protesters joined a rally organised by the alliance ahead of the fourth anniversary of the 25 january Revolution. The march was supposed to move from the party's headquarters in Talaat Harb Street to the Memorial of the Martyrs of the 25 January Revolution in Tahrir Square, where flowers would have been laid.

The rally was soon dispersed by security forces leaving one woman dead. Shaimaa Al-Sabbagh, 31, member of the socialist alliance, was shot by security forces, according to eyewitness reports.

During the dispersal the security forces arrested six on charges of protesting, illegal assembly and assaulting the police. Socialist Popular Alliance member Sayed Abul Ela, who was among the detainees, carried Al-Sabbagh after the shooting.
