Egypt- 2 police officers injured in Alf Maskan explosion


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Two police officers were injured after an improvised explosive device targeting a Central Security Forces position exploded on Sunday morning, state-owned newspaper Al-Ahram reported.

The device detonated close to the Alf Maskan area of eastern Cairo, near the entrance to El-Shams Sporting Club.

Other explosions targeted a main gas pipeline, two buses and five 'electric transformers' located in residential neighbourhoods in the 10th of Ramadan City in Sharqeya on Sunday with no reported casualties, according to state media.

In the early hours of Saturday, 3 explosions occurred in Beheira and Sharqeya governorates, leading to the collapse of an electricity tower and a power outage in Beheira. Damage also occurred leading to the partial collapse of a railroad tunnel in Zagazig, Sharqeya.

Friday night witnessed an explosion near the Itihadiya Palace in Heliopolis, Cairo, injuring four police conscripts.
