Brazil's current account deficit hits USD90.95b in 2014


(MENAFN) According to Brazil's Central Bank, Brazil registered a current account deficit of USD90.95 billion last year, accounting for 4.17 percent of the country's GDP, Xinhua reported.

The figure was worse-than-expected by the Central Bank's projection for 2014 and the deficit in the year before, as in 2013, the country's deficit stood at 3.62 percent of the GDP.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) amounted to USD62.5 billion or 2.95 percent of the GDP. Last year, Brazilian investments abroad totaled USD3.5 billion, up 1.3 percent from 2013.

The services account had a deficit of USD48.7 billion in 2014, up 3.3 percent from one year earlier. Net revenues of royalties and license fees hit USD3.3 billion, rising 8.8 percent on-year.
