S. Korea's air passenger traffic tops 80m in 2014

(MENAFN) South Korea's air passenger traffic topped the 80 million mark for the first time in 2014 on an increase in travelers as ticket prices became more affordable, Yonhap News reported.

The report by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport showed that the number of people entering and leaving the country by plane surpassed 81.46 million, up 11 percent on-year.

The ministry said that international passenger traffic surged 11 percent compared to the same period a year ago to 56.78 million, while domestic numbers increased 10.3 percent to hit 24.64 million.

"Last year's good showing was helped by more routes being offered by both full-service and budget carriers, an increase in the number of planes used to ferry passengers," the ministry said.
