Asia Society in S. Korea honors Kuwaiti diplomat


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwaiti Ambassador to South Korea Jassem Al-Bedaiwi was honored with the 2014 excellence certificate by the Asia Society for his efforts to bolster bilateral relations and his support of the society.

After the society's annual celebration attended by the society's chairman Dong-Bin Shin, Ambassador Al-Bedaiwi said in a statement to KUNA that he thanked the society for this honoring which reflected South Korea's keenness on boosting ties with Kuwait.

In his speech during the celebration, Al-Bedaiwi said that Kuwait was interested in boosting ties with Asian countries, noting that such interest was evident in Kuwait's organization of the first Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) summit which was held in 2012.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has donated a sum of USD 300 million to help development in Asian and non-Arab countries.

The Asia Society is an independent, not-for-profit educational institution dedicated to promoting mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships among peoples, leaders and institutions of Asia and the United States.

Founded in 1956 in New York, it fosters inter-regional connections to prepare Asians and Americans for a shared future through its eleven global centers.
