(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Mark Holroyd extended lead in the Qatar Challenge after his third win of the season, yesterday at the Losail International Circuit.
Even Holroyd didn't had the pole position yesterday as the fastest driver in the qualifying was Pavel Nedobity, he took immediately the lead of the race just after the start overtaking Pavel in the firsts turns of the race.
Holroyd and Pavel were very close during the first half of the race and the battling was very intensive but in the sixth lap of the race, Saif Al Naimi had a mechanical problem and he stopped the car so the race was stopped.
Peter De Vido was third at the moment of the red flag.
In the re-start of the three laps race, Holroyd started in the first position on the grid and he took again the lead crossing the chequered flag in first position.
'It has been the most exciting race I've seen in the Qatar Challenge and that is thanks to Pavel and Peter and the guys for pushing the cars really hard," said Holroyd.
"If it wasn't for the re-start I think that Pavel would have beat me if I am very honest, but I gave in my best and I was very defensive, it was a very good test of my defensive skills and fortunately at the end of the race I came in the first position. And really looking forward the next race," he added.
The second place went to Talal Wehbe who was extremely happy after his result. "I am super excited for this result because is my first race in Group N, and I am also happy that my best lap time was the second fastest in the second race. It was an amazing close race between me and Peter' Wehbe told after the race. The third position was for David Walker.
In the Radical Middle East Cup, the winner of both races was the Russian driver Sergey Shalunov from the team Arloid IntraHouse.
The leader in the Porsche GT3 Cup Middle East Challenge, Clemens Schmid won the second race.
