Abu Dhabi - Eight boys aged between 13 and 15 years have been referred to an Abu Dhabi court for allegedly stealing 11 motorbikes from the vehicle impoundment yard of Al Mafraq police station. The eight teenagers face charges of theft and driving without a driver’s licence.

The investigation conducted by the Abu Dhabi Family Prosecution showed that the juveniles dug under the fence surrounding the impoundment yard to gain access before making away with the motorbikes.

On the day of the incident a policeman guarding the yard spotted the trespassers and ran after them but could only arrest one of them. The remaining seven fled the spot.

Counselor Ali Mohammed Al Baloushi Attorney-General of Abu Dhabi said this case is a “serious indicator to which all education institutions must pay attention”. “How can children aged between 13 and 15 years dare to challenge the law and trespass on a property belonging to an authority that represents the law in the society

“A systematic scientific research should be pursued on the educational loopholes that have led the eight accused to commit such a perilous crime” he said.
