Brazil's current account deficit hit USD90.95b in 2014


(MENAFN) Brazil's Central Bank announced registered a current account deficit of USD90.95 billion in 2014, accounting for 4.17 percent of the country's GDP, Xinhua reported.

The situation is worse than the Central Bank's projection for last year and the deficit in the year before. In 2013, the deficit accounted for 3.62 percent of the total GDP.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) amounted to USD62.5 billion, or 2.95 percent of the GDP, dropping from USD64 billion or 2.85 percent of the GDP in 2013, data showed.

The services account had a deficit of USD48.7 billion in 2014, up 3.3 percent on year. Net revenues of royalties and license fees hit USD3.3 billion, rising 8.8 percent.
