(MENAFN) According to a forecast by the Business Monitor International, UAE's Information Technology industry is expected to increase by 8.8 percent in 2015 due to an in increase in the sales of software and services, resulting in the IT sector to grow to USD5.08 billion in comparison with USD4.67 in 2013, Emirates 24/7 reported.

BMI said that it forecasts that the sales of software will increase to USD966.04 million this year, an increase by 18.1 percent with USD816.60 million recorded as sales in 2013, resulting in the UAE becoming one of the region's fastest growing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) markets.

BMI added that hardware sales are forecast to increase 2.3 percent to USD2.38 billion in 2015 compared with its sales last year as growth in the corporate segment will offset the flat growth of consumer products, while in term of services, companies are expected to earn 13.8 percent more this year to USD1.72 billion as compared to USD1.51 billion last year.

"Etisalat's adoption of Microsoft Lync, which can connect people across Windows and other operating systems, including mobile devices, supports BMI's view that heavy investments in next generation mobile broadband networks and the proliferation of smartphones has laid the foundations for growth in the region's enterprise mobility solutions market," BMI said.
