(MENAFN- Gulf Times) ITC Maurya has hand-picked a team of 50 expert staff who will look after US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle during their three-day stay at the super luxury hotel here.
"We have over 70 specialised staff to take care of the US president and his wife. But we have chosen a team of 50 and the remaining 20 will remain on standby," a hotel source said.
The staff, who have been cleared by Indian and American security, will look after the needs of the US president and his wife - from serving food, water, answering their rings, ushering them, and remain on their toes to follow any command.
All phone lines at the hotel will be monitored by the Delhi police and US Secret Service from January 24 evening, a day before Obama arrives here.
On January 25, the hotel staff and helpers who come to the hotel will have to deposit their mobile phones, other electronic items and belts with the hotel security.
Special cameras that can capture every tiny detail of the surroundings as well as the details of the human face have been installed in front of the hotel.
The entire 500m stretch on Sardar Patel Marg along which Maurya is situated has been fully covered by over 20 such specialised cameras installed at around 20ft distance on electric poles, trees and iron railings to ensure security during the VVIP visit.
The food and drinking water to be served to Obama and his wife will pass through three layers of stringent checking.
The food will be checked by a Delhi police team and finally by a team of US Secret Service agents before it is served.
The process of testing the food will be completed 15 minutes before it is to be served to Obama after which it will be kept under strict watch to ensure no one comes near the food or is able to tamper with it, sources said.
An advance US Secret Service team has already checked into the hotel. The drinking water to be served to the US president will also pass through stringent checking.
