Tally of flood victims in Malaysia drops as water recedes


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The number of flood victims in Sarawak, Malaysia, dropped to 5,631 on Thursday compared to 6,344 last night, according to the Sarawak National Security Council (NSC).

Meanwhile, the number of victims in Kelantan and Perak was unchanged at 255 and 77 respectively, said the NSC, adding that victims at evacuation centers had decreased by 2,294 as flood waters receded in most parts of the Malaysian states.

The council noted that as of this morning, the total number of flood victims reached 8,218, compared to 10,512 yesterday. There are currently 38 relief centers sheltering the flood victims across the country, the council added.
