(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha's first movies, games and comic convention will be held on February 26-27 at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).
Hafþór JúlÃus Björnsson (The Mountain) and Ryan Joseph Hart (Prodigal Son) will be two of the celebrities coming for the IGN Convention Qatar which will bring together gamers, cosplayers and movie buffs.
Famous for his role as 'The Mountain' in the TV series The Game of Thrones, Björnsson was Iceland's Strongest Man in 2011 and 2012. He will be available for autographs and photo sessions on both days and participate in panels and Q&A sessions with the audience.
Hart is an eSports athlete who travels the globe for competitions. He holds three Guinness records and has hundreds of victories worldwide.
Following the success of IGN Conventions in Bahrain and Dubai, IGN Middle East is expanding into Qatar, opening doors for the pop-culture community to join in the fun at the event.
"The idea is to create an enthralling world for pop culture followers and video games, film and comic book buffs. It's not just for geeks either € we've got brilliant stuff for the entire family," said Abbas Jaffar Ali, Director, IGN Middle East.
Fans will get to be part of activities such as concerts with video game music; arcade, card and table top games; free workshops; eSports; regional artist showcase; video game exhibitions and kids and comics zones. An Artist Alley will promote independent regional artists, game developers and filmmakers while commercial entities will showcase their products.
"Fans can look forward to celebrities, entertainment and fun. Cosplay addicts will mingle with geeks discussing movies while gamers exercise their thumbs and reflexes," he added.
A melting pot for pop culture, the event will see games showcased in Qatar for the first time, Cosplay competition and gaming tournaments as well as celebrities, artists and panels.
It will be open from 4pm to 10pm on Thursday and noon to 10pm on Friday. Tickets are available at Virgin Megastore outlets and Ticketmaster.qa.
