Qatar- Library showcases learning resources


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Thousands visited Qatar National Library (QNL) stand at its inaugural exhibit during the 25th Doha International Book Fair.

Among the visitors were the Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Founder and Chairperson, Qatar Museums, Doha Film Institute and Reach Out to Asia, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari and representatives of embassies.

Throughout the fair, the QNL team held interactive presentations on the library's state-of-the-art learning resources.

It also showcased QNL's advanced digital learning resources, engaged children and families in traditional storytelling sessions and assisted with registration of hundreds of visitors who now have access to the library's digital learning resources for free at the touch of a button.

"We are delighted by the success of our inaugural participation in the fair and QNL remains committed to facilitating access to information for the people of Qatar in the easiest possible way.

"QNL works closely with local and international partners, including World Digital Library and British Library, to make this happen and we look forward to continuing our work to bridge Qatar's past and future through knowledge," said Dr Claudia Lux, Project Director, QNL.

Dr Lux and Dr Joachim Gierlichs, Associate Director, Special Collections and Archives, QNL, led interactive discussion sessions on the library's latest initiatives and resources, including the landmark Heritage Collection, at the fair.

"It is wonderful to see a growing interest in the resources QNL offers as we continue to pioneer the concept of accessing valuable information and knowledge for free for residents of Qatar," said Saadi Al Said, Associate Director, Administration and Planning, QNL. "The fair was an opportunity for us to reach out to a large number of the population and we look forward to our continued participation in years to come," he added.
