UAE- Parents urged to monitor activities of their children


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Abu Dhabi Police officer says parents must open channels of communication with kids.

Abu Dhabi — A senior police official has urged parents to be aware about their children’s activities and follow up with them on a daily basis.



“Parents should open channels of communication with their children and have effective conversations with them. By doing so parents can protect their children and ensure their safety and wellbeing” said Colonel Mohammed Ahmed Al Hosani Deputy Head of the Social Support Centres Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.



These remarks will be part of a radio address by Col Al Hosani that will be broadcast live on Monday. The address is in line with the ‘Security Glances’ campaign organised by the Radio Branch at the Security Media Department of the General Secretariat of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.



Col Al Hosani said: “Children of all ages need to be able to communicate with their parents so that the latter are able to identify the former’s psychological and social needs.”



He stressed the importance of protecting children through the provision of parental support.



He pointed out the concerted efforts of community organisations to carry out awareness campaigns aimed at parents and their children that highlight the potential dangers children may encounter. “It is the parents’ responsibility to provide proper care in raising their children and to act as role models for them in all aspects of life.”



Community role to combat crime



Colonel Al Hosani also called for community members’ participation in crime prevention and suppression. He emphasised that preserving security is a mutual responsibility that is not limited to the police institution but involves both police and community members.



Colonel Al Hosani said “Such issues can be prevented via communication with the Social Support Centres Department which endeavours to increase awareness among parents couples and community members.



He stressed the keenness of the Social Support Centres Department to handle social issues domestic violence and family disputes through a modern and scientific approach.
