Saudi- Govt steps in to curb student belligerence
(MENAFN- Arab News) The Ministry of Education has adopted a project aimed to curb student aggression in general education schools in the Kingdom Asharq Al-Awsat daily said.The project was jointly worked out by the National Committee for Childhood (NCC) the Family Safety Program (NSP) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) the paper said.Ministry officials reportedly noticed the spread of violence among students in general education schools prompting them to take swift action in a bid to minimize the occurrence of such incidents.Secretary-General of NCC Wafa bint Hamad Al-Salih said the project has gained the support of Minister of Education Prince Khaled Al-Faisal who is keen to eliminate any disruption or negative behavior in academic environments.'The Education ministry is doing its best to curb the aggressive behavior in schools and is trying to address the phenomenon through educational and scientific approaches' she said.The project is primarily aimed at carrying out a field study to discover the extent of the phenomenon causes and types preventive measures taken by schools and its impact on teenagers and children the paper said.The project also contains kits and tools designed for children and students in various stages of education with the intention of raising awareness of the issue and ways to deal with it. In addition the project involves parents to address the behavioral problems.
