Qatar keen to boost German ties

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Airways (QA) Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker met Germany's Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Katherina Reiche, in Frankfurt on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the A350.

They discussed matters of mutual interest and the growth of the aviation industry and related sectors between both countries.

Talks highlighted the incremental commitment of Qatar to strengthen ties with Germany and provide more opportunities for the Europe's largest economy, according to a statement.

Al Baker hosted a dinner for dignitaries, stakeholders and trade members from the travel industry on the back of the launch of QA's first A350 commercial service to Frankfurt.

QA selected Frankfurt as its first A350 destination as it operates double-daily flights to the city and underscores the long tenure of the route on its network. Frankfurt is one of the top German economic centres and one of the most important air traffic hubs in Europe, and QA's A350 XWB's capacity will provide more comfort for business and leisure travellers.
