() has appointed former Cameco Resources (NYSE:CCJ TSE:CCO) senior executive Tom Young as its chief operating officer.
Since mid-2012 he has been working with TetraTech overseeing the development of the Pre-Feasibility Study on the company’s flagship Temrezli uranium project in central Turkey giving him unique insight into the project.
Young was formerly the vice president of operations for Cameco responsible for the Smith Ranch Highland and Crowe Butte in-situ uranium mines in the U.S.
He has extensive experience in the development and operations of ISR uranium well-fields and plants and will oversee the development of Temrezli.
“Through Tom’s involvement in the PFS he has acquired detailed knowledge of our projects and people” interim chief executive officer and managing director Paul Cronin said.
“His decision to join our team is a strong endorsement of the Temrezli uranium project.
“Tom’s unique skills and experience will enable Anatolia to transition Temrezli to its development phase and create a great platform for building a first class operating team.”
Earlier this week the company received strong results from metallurgical test work on core material from Temrezli demonstrating the deposit is amenable to extraction of uranium using a standard alkaline leach environment.
Uranium recovery of 84.9% was achieved in samples above the resource cut-off grade of 200ppm U3O8.
Improved metallurgical recoveries are to be incorporated into the upcoming PFS. Average recovery in the previous PEA was assumed to be 69%.
The PFS is due in weeks.
Temrezli boasts the second lowest capital intensity of recently developed/developing ISR projects of US$3.28/lbpa with a peer average of US$5.70/lbpa.
