Egypt's Sisi addresses WEFS, calls for varying sources of energy

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi on Monday stressed the need to work according to national strategies that guarantee variation of energy sources and secure needs of the market.

In the keynote speech of the World Future Energy Summit (WEFS) 2015 that kicked off in Abu Dhani today and lasts for four days, Al-Sisi said Egypt is working in line with a special strategy to provide power.

He stressed the importance of WEFS to address issues of new and renewable energy.

Egypt's strategy is based on varying sources of energy, adopting plans to bridge the gap between production and consumption, he said, noting that work is underway to enhance efficiency of oil and natural gas fields, as well as encouraging the flow of more investments. He emphasized keenness on delivering subsidy to people who deserve it.

The Egyptian President said he aims at turning his country into a world power hub, adding that successful renewable energy projects have been carried out in the country, with a leading role by the private sector.

He considered the WEFS as a vital global gathering to address the challenges facing the sectors of power and water and sustainable development worldwide.

He invited participants to take part in the international economic conference due in Egypt in March.
