Pakistan condemns US drone strike in N. tribal area

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Government of Pakistan on Monday condemned the United States drone strike that took place in Pungai, Shawal area of North Waziristan Agency on 19th January 2015, said Foreign Office.

A press release by Pakistan Foreign Office said, "The Government of Pakistan reiterates its well known position that such strikes constitute a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity and demands their immediate cessation." Earlier in the day, at least six people were killed in a US led drone strike in northwestern Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan, said reports.

North Waziristan is among Pakistan's seven tribal districts governed by tribal laws and facing militants' insurgency for last many years. Drone strikes are quite unpopular across Pakistan and the country has condemned the strikes on its territory several times before.
