FM, UN official discuss regional developments


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh on Monday discussed with the Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Nickolay Mladenov, cooperation between Jordan and the UN as well as the latest developments in Iraq and the region.

The two officials stressed the need to intensify international efforts to fight terrorism and extremism that threaten the region and the whole world.

Judeh and Mladenov also reviewed international efforts to help Iraq in fighting terrorist organizations.

Judeh stressed Jordan's support to efforts to preserve security and unity of Iraq and called for arriving at a political solution in Iraq through dialogue.

The UN official praised Jordan's pivotal role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II to bring about peace and stability in the region. He also voiced his keenness to continue coordination and consultations with Jordan on various issues.
