Head of parliamentary committee meets Dutch ambassador

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Chairman of Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, MP Bassam Manasir, on Monday discussed ties with the Dutch Ambassador to Jordan, Paul van den IJssel.

Manasir pointed out that Jordan stands against extremism, indicating that the publication of cartoons insulting Prophet Mohamed (Peace be Upon Him) can lead to terrorism and extremism.

He stressed that no interest is served by publishing such drawings except to make financial gains and destabilize peace and stability.

Manasir called for more frequent meetings between Jordan's Parliament and other Western parliaments to showcase the true and tolerant image of Islam and this will contribute towards bridging the gap between cultures.

The Dutch ambassador praised Jordanian-Dutch relations and valued Jordan's efforts to bring peace, describing the Kingdom as a part of any regional solution.

He also called for supporting Jordan at all levels to help it continue playing its pivotal role in the region.
