Qatar- Armed forces attend mobility innovations and solutions workshop


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) organised a workshop for the Qatar Armed Forces on mobility innovations and solutions at Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP).

Abdulla Zaid Al Talib, Chairman, QMIC, highlighted the role QMIC is playing to realise a knowledge-based economy in collaboration with key national entities. He also highlighted on the role of innovations and knowledge creation in realising Qatar's vision.

Brigadier General Nasser Abdullah Al Sulaiti, Commander, Joaan Bin Jassem College for Leadership, reviewed the objectives of the military forces from the workshop and emphasised their interest in learning more about QMIC's initiatives and innovative solutions in areas, including telematics/logistics management, road safety and environment.

The workshop was the first in a series to be held by QMIC with departments of the armed forces to identify collaboration and partnership in the areas of mobility innovations and to become self-sufficient in the field of technology.

It introduced the armed forces' top officials to QMIC's innovations such as Masarak (intelligent transport and logistics management system), Hawa'ak (environment monitoring system), Connected Vehicles (a futuristic V2V and V2X technology enabling the next generation of Road Safety) and an overview on the Labeeb Internet of Things (IoT) platform.

"Our mission is to have our R&D efforts result in creating national assets, which can play a role in supporting the needs of market segments and mega projects. Our strategy has been to engage and partner with key national organisations to facilitate development and market delivery of innovative systems and solutions.

"The workshop is a manifestation of our strategy where the like-minds come together to promote local R&D and put locally built innovations to serve the needs of the armed forces," said Dr Adnan Abu-Dayya, Executive Director and CEO, QMIC.

Top officers from Joaan Bin Jassem Military College for Leadership, Emiri Navy, Air Force, Land Force, Ahmed Bin Mohammed Military College and information systems, security, environment and other departments the armed forces attended the workshop.

Based on the outcomes of the series, a plan for establishing innovations partnership between the armed forces and QMIC will be prepared.
