Lord Mayor of London to visit Oman to boost economic ties


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Alderman Alan Yarrow Lord Mayor of the City of London will arrive in the sultanate on Wednesday on a four-day visit as part of efforts to ensure London and the UK remain the regional partner of choice when it comes to financial and professional services.

Acting as ambassador for the UK's financial and professional services Lord Mayor Yarrow will be meeting senior officials of the government the Central Bank of Oman investment authorities and senior business leaders. Topics of discussion include investment opportunities between the UK and the sultanate infrastructure projects financial technology Islamic finance initiatives and bilateral commercial relationships.

The Lord Mayor will be joined by a business delegation from the UK which includes senior representatives from investment banks asset managers insurers and law firms.

Speaking ahead of his trip Lord Mayor Yarrow said "The UK remains committed in developing its economic relationship with Oman. As the country continues with ambitious infrastructure plans and presses ahead with diversifying the economy the UK stands ready to support Oman.

"Our financial and professional services firms have a wealth of expertise and experience in a wide range of financing options which can help the two-way flow of capital. I hope that this closer economic relationship means that the UK remains the partner of choice for Oman on the global financial stage."
