INTERPOL Director of Operational Police Support Praises Qatari Search and Rescue Team


(MENAFN- QNA) Director of Operational Police Support Directorate at the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) Michael O'Connell has praised the Qatari Search and Rescue Team, which has managed to get the International Tribute, thanks to its distinct cadres.
A delegation from the INTERPOL included Michael O'Connell, Ali Mohammad Al Ali, an officer in Project Stadia to ensure security at major sporting events, and Rabab Bsieso, an operation assistant at Project Stadia had paid a visit to the Qatari Search and Rescue Team premises.
O'Connell said that the Qatari Search and Rescue Team includes an elite group of promising young men who has participated in relief and support operations at an international level, and in many practical exercises. It has also the best advanced equipment in the field of search and rescue.
The INTERPOL delegation held a meeting with a number of officials in the Search and Rescue Team, during which the Team Officer Maj. Abdullah Eid Al Muhannadi highlighted the Team's capabilities and the international tasks it took part in.
He noted that the Team took part in in many overseas tasks in search and rescue operations, provided assistance and contributed to mitigate the impact of crises and disasters on victims and to support them in various forms. Among the most important operations were the search and rescue operations after Kashmir earthquake, and the earthquake in Indonesia, in addition to the search and rescue operations in Lebanon war, and providing aid to the people of Gaza, and the affected people in Mauritania, Haiti, and others.
During a press conference on the sidelines of the meeting, Maj. Abdullah Al Muhannadi underlined the importance of lifting the team efficiency through advanced training, stressing that training is an influential and key factor in the development of a distinct and integrated work system, and in improving the level of response to all of the risks and challenges inside and outside the state.
He highlighted the Team's persistent work in order to achieve the future goal which is getting international Classification of the United Nations.
