Saudi firm invests USD272.18m in Dubai's health sector

(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia's healthcare firm Dr Soliman Fakeeh Hospital (DSFH) announced that it is planning to invest USD272.18 million in the development of a medical facility offering robotic surgery and a university spread over 150,000 square meters in Dubai, Emirates 24/7 reported.

The Fakeeh Academic Medical Center (FAMC) in Dubai Silicon Oasis will be constructed in two phases, with phase 1, which is set for completion in 2017, will include the delivery of a 150-bed smart hospital, while phase 2, to be completed in 2019, will increase the hospital's capacity with an additional 150-beds, as well as adding an academic component to the project through the opening of the research-focused university.

The medical center will be the first smart hospital in the region, with the 300-bed facility offering robotics surgery in addition to featuring an automated medication dispensing system, as well as five centers specializing in diabetes and endocrinology, muscles, bones and joints, emergency medicine, pulmonary medicine and cardiology.

"Dubai plans to attract 500,000 medical tourists a year and boost its economy by up to Dh2.6 billion in the next five years. By hosting FAMC at DSO, we reiterate our complete support to this project throughout the implementation of the prestigious medical facility," Chairman of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) said.
