Samsung Techwin, GE sign airplane engine supply deal

(MENAFN) Samsung Techwin Co., the defense unit of Samsung, said it has signed a deal with General Electric to provide airplane engine parts for the next decade, Yonhap News reported.

Under the deal, Samsung Techwin will provide 18 types of airplane engine parts from 2016 to 2025 to the US company, which is expected to translate into around USD430 million in sales.

The manufactured parts will be used in the next-generation LEAP engine being developed by CFM International, a joint venture between GE and France's Snecma, which starts production in 2016.

The deal came after a USD900 million parts supply deal signed with P&W last November. Samsung Techwin forecasts that the new supply deal would serve as a "game changer" of its business.
