(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim is set to leave for Istanbul, Turkey, on Monday to lead a Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation partaking in the 10th session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC) due between January 20-22.
During his stay in Istanbul, Al-Ghanim will also hold coordinative meetings of Gulf and Arab groups on several issues and subjects tabled on the agenda of the meeting.
Secretary-General of the National Assembly Allam Al-Kandari will attend a meeting of secretaries-general of PUIC member states.
Earlier on Saturday, Turkey's Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek inaugurated the preparatory meeting of the 33th session of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC).
In a keynote speech at the meeting, Cicek said the event was of paramount significance as it came at a critical time in the entire region, especially following recent "terrorist" attacks in some countries.
Cicek said terrorism constitutes a "crime against humanity" so it should be fought by all means.
The gathering is scheduled to mainly discuss a memo of understanding on cooperation among the PUIC member states, reports compiled by permanent specialized committees and regulatory matters and subjects.
Kuwaiti MPs Faisal Al-Shaya and Saif Al-Azmi attended the PUIC executive committee meeting.
The Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC) was established in 1999 and is basked in Tehran, Iran.
The union mainly aims to promote Islamic teachings and discuss cultural, social and political issues that concern member states.
