London Mayor urges partnerships between Kuwaiti, British businessmen


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman Alan Yarrow on Sunday stressed the importance of establishing investment partnerships between Kuwaiti and British businessmen.

Lord Yarrow, accompanied by a high ranking delegation of British businessmen and representatives of financial and investment institutions, met with chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Ali Al-Ghanim.

He underlined Kuwait's economic significance for the UK, saying he is keen on visiting the country annually.

In addition, he expressed hope for opening up new horizons for bilateral economic ties, saying the visit would help share expertise and skills for promoting financial sectors in both countries, and consequently economy on a wider scale.

For his part, Al-Ghanim stressed the strong historical economic and social ties between the two countries, referring to the effective role by the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) London office in enhancing bilateral ties.

He also underscored the remarkable role by the Kuwaiti real state, investment and banking firms in that respect.

Al-Ghanim said the KCCI is ready to devote all potential for bolstering economic ties, especially with the City of London, which is crucial for the Kuwaiti business sector.

Lord Yarrow is on a regional tour, running as far as 28 January, which also includes Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE and Qatar, leading an economic and business delegation to enhance ties with them, especially economic ones.
