Kuwait MPs attend PUIC meetings


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Visiting Kuwaiti MPs Faisal Al-Shaya and Saif Al-Azmi participated in the meetings of the permanent committees of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC) here on Sunday.

During the meetings, up to 25 draft resolutions were approved and would be referred to the PUIC conference, Al-Shaya told KUNA following the meetings.

The conferees stressed the necessity of the significant role by PUIC parliaments to face Israeli plans to Judaize the Palestinian city of Jerusalem, he added.

They also discussed the latest positive developments in Sudan, Somalia, Mali and neighboring countries, he pointed out.

For his part, Al-Azmi, speaking to KUNA, said a committee meeting had considered human and women and family rights.

The meeting also discussed possible coordination with regional and international organizations in order to promote the role of women in national development processes, he added.

The Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC) was established in 1999 and is basked in Tehran, Iran.

The union mainly aims to promote Islamic teachings and discuss cultural, social and political issues that concern member states.
