(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Lebanese army thwarted an infiltration attempt into Wadi Hmayyid, on the outskirts of Ersal, northeast Lebanon, near the borders with Syria, on Sunday evening.
Three infiltrators were wounded when the army intercepted an armed group coming from Syria, NNA news agency reported.
The army has recently tightened the security measures in the mountainous border areas, sealed off Ersal and set up security checkpoints in a bid to prevent infiltration of gunmen from Syria, particularly Al-Qalamoun district.
