UAEs proposal on confronting terror accepted


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Proposal to the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation recognises the urgency of confronting terrorism and its ideologies through the adoption of an inclusive common and effective strategy.

Istanbul — The Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC) has approved a request submitted by the UAE Parliamentary Division for the inclusion of an emergency item in the agenda of its 33rd meeting which started in Istanbul on Saturday. The meeting is titled ‘The Islamic Parliamentary Charter for Action Against Terrorism and Extremism’.



Rashad Buksh member of the Federal National Council’s Parliamentary Division said the proposed project reflects the orientation of the UAE’s official diplomacy and its interest to explaim the UAE’s approach towards the issue.



The proposal he explained recognises the urgency of confronting terrorism and its ideologies through the adoption of an inclusive common and effective strategy backed by international systematic efforts based on the UN’s leading role.



He added the project contains objectives and expected results as well as mechanisms of communication with regional and international parliaments and parliamentary organiations.
