Qatar- Ooredoo celebrates victory of brand ambassador Nasser Al Attiyah


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Ooredoo has extended congratulations to its brand ambassador Nasser Al Attiyah yesterday as he won his second Dakar Rally on Saturday.

The Qatari hero, who also won the Rally in 2011, secured his second career Dakar title following his win in Thursday's Stage 11 from Salta to Termas de Rio Hondo, Argentina, and his successful performance in Buenos Aires on Saturday. For Al Attiyah's Mini team, his performance meant a fourth successive Dakar title.

After the success of the race Ooredoo aims to release a new series of posters and advertisements with Al Attiyah, highlighting the driver's place as the face of Ooredoo 4G and 4G+, delivered on Ooredoo's bigger, faster network.

Nasser Al Attiyah becomes only the seventh driver in history to win the title more than once, joining Jean Louis Schlesser, Hiroshi Masuoka, René Metge, Jean Paul Cottret, Ari Vatanen, and Stéphane Peterhansel on the roll call of honour. The sporting hero finished ahead of his competitors by a comfortable distance in 2015, winning five stages and finishing the race ahead of his direct competitors.

In an illustrious career, Nasser Al Attiyah was the 2006 Production World Rally Champion, an eight-time Middle East Rally Champion and the 2011 Dakar Rally winner.

He came second and third in the Dakkar Rallies in 2010 and 2014 respectively. He currently competes in the World and Middle East Rally Championships for the Qatar World Rally Team. In shooting, Al Attiyah won the bronze medal in the men's skeet event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.Ooredoo's sponsorship of Nasser Al Attiyah is a part of several initiatives the company has undertaken to encourage sports education and inspire more young people to take up a sport of their own.
