Somali Premier Dissolves Newly Appointed Cabinet

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Somalia's new Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke has dissolved his cabinet less than week after appointing it, a government spokesman said Saturday.

Ridwan Hagi Abdwali told dpa that the motivation for the move was not known, but that the composition of the cabinet had been widely criticized.

Legislators had complained about Sharmarke appointing to his cabinet supporters of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Cabinet members are seen as having been involved in constant disputes between Sheikh Mohamud and Sharmarke's predecessor Abdiwali Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed, who was ousted by parliament on December 6.

Sharmarke was appointed to succeed Ahmed Mohamed on December 17. He now needs to appoint a new cabinet within 14 days.
