(MENAFN- QNA) HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani met in Al Bahr Palace on Sunday with Dr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the accompanying delegation, who are visiting Qatar to attend the 24th Men's Handball World Championship currently held in Doha.
During the meeting, IOC President presented HH the Emir with the De Coubertin medal, a commemorative medal from the 1894 Conference, of which five editions were awarded to the Heads of State and the sixth edition was granted to HH the Emir in recognition of His Highness' contributions in developing and supporting the Olympic Movement in various programs and activities.
Talks during the meeting dealt with relations of cooperation between the State of Qatar and the International Olympic Committee , as well as a number of issues of mutual concern.
