Argentina's inflation hits 23.9 percent in 2014

(MENAFN) Official figures released showed that Argentina's inflation hit 23.9 percent in 2014, marking the second worst in South America after Venezuela, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

According to the Indec statistics agency's released data, the rate is lower than the 38.5 percent forecasted by opposition lawmakers in the Latin America's third-largest economy.

In 2013, the country's annual inflation stood at 11 percent, while analysts estimated it to come around 30 percent. Meanwhile, the economy has slowed down in the past year.

However, in Venezuela, which has undergone an economic downturn last year and basic food shortages, inflation rate has surged sharply to 64 percent in the cited period.
