Hyundai, Kia EU market share down in 2014

Date:

(MENAFN) Official data showed that the share of South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. in the European market has shrank in 2014, Yonhap News reported.

The automaker's market share in the region edged down 0.1 percent each in 2014, coming to 3.3 percent and 2.7 percent, respectively, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association said.

However, their total number of cars sold in Europe increased last year, with combined sales standing at 754,355 units, up 2.2 percent from 737,287 units sold a year earlier, the ACEA said.

In December alone, sales of Hyundai and Kia surged 7 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively. However, the overall new car sales in the EU area increased 4.7 percent in the month.
