Relief aid to Syrian refugees in Jerash

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) A Kuwaiti charity on Saturday provided in-kind and cash assistance to 124 Syrian refugee families in the Jerash governorate, 48 kilometres north of the capital Amman.

Speaking at the ceremony patronized by Kuwaiti Prince Khalifa Al-Sabah, representatives of Fahad Al-Sabah charity and the Al-Kitab wal Sunnah Association, another aid contributor, emphasized the importance of support to alleviate the plight of displaced Syrians.

They noted that the Gulf Arab state had extended a helping hand to countries affected by humanitarian crises.

Jerash Mayor Ali Qoukazeh explained the impact that the displaced Syrians had on his region, noting that various municipal, education, health, water, environment, housing and labour sectors had been hit hard by the influx of refugees.

"The Jerash Municipality has spared no effort to provide best possible services to the refugees", he said, noting that his municipality had distributed more than 2,000 food parcels to the Syrians during last week's snow storm that swept the region.
