Qatar- Courts hear 1,777 cases in nine months


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) A total of 1,777 cases were heard by courts from October 2013 to June 2014.

Of these, about 68 percent were claims against the government and 32 percent filed by the government against private companies and individuals, said Khalid Abdullah Al Zara, Head, Cases Department, the Ministry of Justice.

He was speaking in a popular programme Tarahib (Welcomes) aired by Al Rayan TV Channel.

Some 81 percent of the cases were ruled in favour of the state and 19 against it in civil cases. Of administrative claims, 55 percent verdicts were in favour of the government and 41 percent against it, Al Sharq reports. Only four percent cases were solved amicably, Al Zara said.
