Saudi- 46 students bag Cambridge awards 36 schools get ISA

(MENAFN- Arab News) More than 140 British Council students in the Kingdom obtained higher scores in the international Cambridge University exam. Ten of the students got the highest scores around the world and 36 others achieved high scores around the Kingdom. Also 36 Saudi private schools achieved ISA in addition to six public schools which work with their partner schools from the UK in the program connecting the classrooms.Speaking to Arab News Keshav Sreedharan regional exam manager at the British Council told a meeting with representatives of 75 schools of the Kingdom that the council is currently working with the National Commission for Assessment and Academic Accreditation (NCAAA) under the agreement between British Council and NCAAA. The agreement also covers work with five Saudi universities.Sreedharan pointed out that the council has prepared a joint plan to develop the level of education around the world through a qualifying and orientation program for teachers with latest teaching techniques as well as management of classrooms and dealing with special needs through the participation of British curriculum.'The council organizes 42000 exams every year for the school candidates on behalf of Cambridge University and Edexel Pearson Foundation aiming to raise the quality of education in the Kingdom' he said.He announced that there will be training program and services for schools in 2015 to support the school candidates.Rob Low English project manager at British Council Saudi Arabia told Arab News that there is a plan to solve the problem of low English level with Saudi students. He added: 'We noticed the low level of these students by looking at the IELTS results. However we visited three cities in the Kingdom to conduct a study during which we interacted with many people including students and teachers.He stressed that the most difficult thing when learning English in the Kingdom is that the country is huge and it has plenty schools. He said: 'We will be focusing on the development of teachers and also students in the primary and intermediate stages by providing intensive courses online which we think will suit the time of students and teachers because it will be easier for them to access these online programs at any time.
