Qatari QP to continue with its expansion plans


(MENAFN) Qatar Petroleum (QP) announced that it is still pursuing its expansion plans within the industry by conducting feasibility studies to assess utilizing the available ethane feedstock, despite making the decision not to go ahead with Al Karaana Petrochemicals Project, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

The company said that it will be carrying out the studies in cooperation with Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco), Qatar Chemical Company (Q-Chem) and RasLaffan Olefins Company (RLOC), with the aim to expand and further develop the petrochemical plants under Industries Qatar (IQ) and Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding Company (MPHC).

QP said that in case this study materialized, it will a significant step in helping Qatar achieve the best utilization of its natural resources, particularly in the petrochemical sector as well as maximizing its contribution to the national economy.
