Imran faces wrath of parents of Peshawar school victims

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Wednesday visited the Army Public School which had reopened on Monday after the horrific tragedy of December 16 when terrorists slaughtered 150 people including 134 children.

Imran's wife Reham Khan also accompanied him. He met teachers and students paying tribute to their courage and fortitude despite the ghastly episode.

Several parents and relatives of the dead children shouted anti-Imran slogans accusing him of a delayed visit and entering into marriage without waiting for Chehlum (40th day) of the massacre of children.

Holding posters and banners, the parents tried to stop Khan's vehicle from entering the school premises.

The demonstrators complained that it took Khan a month to come to Peshawar after the massacre. "You were busy getting married without doing anything for my child who died less than a month ago," said a weeping mother, outside the school, while another parent said the PTI chief had abandoned them when they needed him the most.

Imran had earlier tweeted that he wanted to visit the school on January 12 on the day of the school's re-opening but was advised to postpone it in view of army chief Gen. Raheel Sharif's visit.

Imran left the school from a back door.

PTI spokesman Naeemul Haq said Imran understands sentiments of the aggrieved parents.

Meanwhile, Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said Khan faced slogans of "Go Imran, Go!" because of his negative approach in politics.

He accused Khan of creating hurdles in the way of implementing the national agenda against terrorism.
