(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Qatar Museums yesterday unveiled three new artworks especially commissioned to celebrate the 24th Men's Handball World Championships in Doha. Thanks to the collaboration between Qatar Museums and the Qatar 2015 Organizing Committee, the artworks are installed at the Lusail Multipurpose Hall as part of an ongoing public art programme designed to bring culture to the streets of Doha.
The pieces include two murals created by Qatari artist Mohamed al-Nasif, inspired by different elements of Qatari culture and the country's development and progress. The second artwork is a large bronze sculpture entitled 'The Challenge 2015', and was produced in just five months by noted Iraqi artist Ahmed al-Bahrani.
The third artwork is a 'calligraffiti' piece by renowned Tunisian artist El Seed who blends traditional Arabic calligraphy with contemporary street art. The work includes poetry quotes by Sheikh Jassem Bin Mohamed Bin Thani, the Founder of Qatar.
This is his second project in Qatar. His first, in 2013, involved painting four underground tunnels on Salwa Road with artistic graffiti themes and quotes focusing on themes of identity, education, history and several other aspects of life in Doha.
